THE hammer falling on the final auction lot on Friday (25/07), marked exciting new changes for a business in Towcester.
The last night of a three-day Summer Spectacular sale was held at JP Humbert Auctioneers, in Burcote Road.

It was the last auction to be held at the site as the company is now moving to new premises at Silverstone Business Park near Whittlebury.

Humbert Auctioneers has shared its present home with Arcotronics for five years. But as Arcotronics prepares to close and give up its tenancy, transferring equipment to its parent firm's other sites, Jonathan Humbert said the change provided an opportunity to expand his business.

Mr Humbert said: "This is part of our continued expansion and development and follows on from us buying Northampton's last remaining salerooms.

"Our new home will give customers from the Brackley area and north Bucks better access, and will be spread over two floors including a coffee shop.

"We were very keen to keep the business in the Towcester area as it yields some very interesting items."

The three-day auction started on Wednesday, with a sale of coins, stamps and postcards.

The following two days have seen fine art and antiques up for auction.
With bidding from 6pm tonight, Friday, lots include two vintage Rolls Royces and a rare AJS 1931 motorcycle. Yesterday, Thursday, a 14th-century Ethiopian Prayer book was among sale items.
