A SPRAT to catch a monster pike?
For this, surprisingly enough, was the bait which lured a 18lb 4oz specimen at Hyde Lane, Buckingham in October 1974.
Its captor was John Reeves, of Whitchurch, who was fishing in the match for the De Angeli Pike Cup.
The fish not only won John the Cup, but also broke the previous record by 3lbs.
