HIGH winds and a flash thunderstorm didn't stop the crowds turning out to see the then MP for Buckingham George Walden open the North Bucks Disabled Association's annual fete in September 1984.
Held on the Winslow Recreational Ground, the fete was also attended by the MP's wife, Sarah, and Association president Sir Edward Tomkins, along with Winslow's Carnival Princess Leonie Rush and her attendants Kara Wilson and Rachel Dickins.
Proceeds from the fete were used to benefit the Association's disabled members.
