IT was top marks all round when the lads from Buckingham's ATC squadron decided to clean up the town's war memorial as part of their community service, in April 1987.
For the task presented a small problem - how to reach the cross at the very top.
Local builders Edgar W Taylor Ltd came up with the spring cleaning solution.
They loaned the lads some scaffolding and the combined effort resulted in a fresh all-over look for the memorial.
Town Mayor Cllr Peggy Dale, Honorary President of 1563 (Buckingham) ATC Squadron, was there to give them an 'A' for amazing effort.

ADVERTISEMENT: Patent 'PYTHO' PLASTER is cheaper than Parian or Keen's Cement and makes better work. Gives an extremely hard marble-like surface, with ordinary labour. It neither contracts, expands, blisters nor flakes. It is the most satisfactory material on which decoration may be applied at once. The first cost is little more than of ordinary Plaster, but owing to the saving in time and labour, works out actually less.
