CARS used for bomb squad training were burnt out during a fire at RAF Bicester this weekend.
Fire fighters from Bicester and Banbury were called to the airfield at around 1.30am on Saturday, February 6 and found five scrap cars on fire.

The airfield is owned by the Ministry of Defence but is mainly used by gliding and parachute clubs.

Both Thames Valley Police and Military Police offices attended the fire and liaised with fire crews.

A spokesperson for the MOD who are carrying out an investigation said the cars were used by the Explosive Ordanance Disposal Unit.

He added: "These vehicles were in fact scrap and of no real value, but obviously the army have been deprived of their used for training purposes.

"An investigation has begun but we are treating it as unexplained. In terms of the time of day in which this occurred it is suspicious but we are keeping an open mind pending further investigations."

Anyone with informtion about this fire should contact MOD Police on 01371 854444 and quote incident number five and the date on which it happened.
