FOUR generations of one family who attended St Edburg's School in Bicester joined a celebration this week marking 150 years since the laying of the school's foundation stone.
On Monday current pupils and staff were joined by governors, parents and Bicester Mayoress Pauline Liddington for an open day kicking off a year of celebrations.
Other events planned for the milestone year include the establishment of a Victorian museum and the laying of a time capsule.
Monday's open day started with a special assembly followed by an outdoor thanksgiving service led by the Rev Canon Teresa Scott.
Children also wrote prayers dedicated to the school that were attached to ribbons and tied to a gazebo within the school grounds.
Acting headteacher, Louise Warren, said: "I think it is important to remember the history and tradition of our school building, where we have come from, and how many children learnt here over the years."
