A Spitfire and Hurricane fighter from The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight were among 78 aircraft that could be viewed on Sunday, September 14, along with nearly 800 classic bikes and up to 500 vintage cars.

Other highlights included a visit by a Curtis P40 Kitty Hawk World War II American fighter and the Bucker Jungman aerobatics display.

The Sunbeam Classic Motorcycle Club proved to be a hit with their display of pre-1915 bikes, and side attractions included a slot car exhibition and a variety of restored barn engines and tractors.

The event also celebrated several anniversaries including 100 years of the Ford Model T, 90 years of the Royal Air Force, and 60 years of both the Morris Minor and the Land Rover.

With up to 300 cars in the public car park the organisers estimate the event was attended by up to 2,000 VAC Club members and spectators.

VAC chairman, John Broad said: "I've had emails and people coming up to me saying it was a superb event and one of the best days out they've had for a long time.

"The Spitfire and Hurricane from The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight were the highlight for me. The way they flew was so smooth and elegant."
