STUDENTS at Bicester Community College donned rubber gloves and joined in to help give their school a fresh look on Saturday.
Members of the school's eco and gardening clubs carried out work on the school's eco-garden while other students helped paint fences and tidied up the school field.
The eco-garden was set up around three years ago and has become a haven for plant life and wildlife, including frogs and insects.
Communications co-ordinator at the college, Alison Pexton, said Saturday's School Force Community Morning allowed students to focus on different projects.
She said: "We have vast grounds and what we have been trying to do over the years is to make it more attractive for our students.
"The two clubs meet up at lunch throughout term and get involved with various projects, but when it is school force morning they can do beefier work. This year the club set to work on our eco-garden which was set up a few years ago and has become a bit overgrown. Last year we did a lot of cutting back and we have done the same again this year."
Members of Bicester Green Gym also helped out while other students provided refreshments. Support was also provided by Bicester Village and Bicester Town Council.
Mrs Pexton said the college planned to create an eco observation area near the pond, with students producing information plaques with details on the type of wildlife which could be found in the garden.
Biology students could also use the area in their coursework.
