CHILDREN in Brackley raised more than £300 for youngsters less fortunate than themselves during the Barnardo's Big Toddle.
On Friday, July 4, dozens of toddlers gathered at the football pitches at Brackley Leisure Centre with childminders and parents for the half-mile sponsored walk.

Laura Ashby, development worker for the Northants Childminders Association, helped organise the event. She said: "It was fabulous. There was a good turn-out and all the children managed to complete the course. Some travelled around in their pushchairs because they were too little but all of them received a medal and certificate."

Mrs Ashby said the walk also provided a chance to raise the profile of childminding, which gave parents a flexible alternative to nursery schools.

There are 188 childminders registered with the NCA in Daventry and South Northants, 48 of which are located in Brackley.

The NCA is a charity that receives funding from Northants County Council and offers support and training to childminders and quality assurance to parents. For more details visit www.childmindingnorthants.org.uk
