PATIENTS in Brackley are calling for an NHS dental practice to be opened in the town to fill a hole in the market.
After 10 years, a new dental practice opened for NHS patients in Towcester on June 1, and now Brackley folk want the same.
One patient, who didn't want to be named, contacted the Brackley and Towcester Advertiser last week and said that at present, NHS dental services are only available to those who claim benefits.
But she said a practice was desperately needed in Brackley itself as patients have a long way to travel to access treatment.
In response, Diane Fenton, head of dentistry and primary care for NHS Northamptonshire said: "NHS Northamptonshire continues to review the location of health services and, by looking at travelling
distances and listening to local residents, has identified Brackley as a town where NHS dental services should be available.
"The provision of a new NHS dental practice is
therefore in line with our strategic priorities.
"We are confident that our plans will mean better services and improved access for the residents of Brackley."
