BRACKLEY Music Festival will celebrate its lucky 13th year with a fortnight of concerts and events around the town.
Opening today, Friday, June 27, the festival gives audiences the chance to discover Brackley's wealth of musical talent and enjoy performances from groups around the country.
The festival will open with a variety show in Brackley Methodist Church starting at 8pm tonight, Friday, staged by the Brackley-based elderly people's charity CAFE. The show will include an Irish band and music hall songs.
Tomorrow, Saturday, live music will be performed in the piazza from 10.30am to 1pm, and in the evening, the Brackley Jubilee Choir will perform modern classic The Armed Man in St Peter's Church for the Eddie Palmer Memorial Concert.
On Sunday, Brackley and District Bands will play a traditional concert with an upbeat programme in St John's Chapel, while throughout the week, visitors can hear music by the Hallé Orchestral Brass Ensemble, the Chad Kelly Organ Recital, the Balfour Ensemble, Performinroom, and a joint concert by musicians from eight local schools.
Next Friday, July 4, the madcap Cosmic Sausages will present their musical tour of the world at Brackley Town Football Club. The club will also host '60s hit-makers Union Gap and The Fourmost in an evening concert next Saturday.
Young Brackley musicians the JKTTrio will play a lunchtime concert next Sunday, and visitors can enjoy a variety of afternoon and evening events through the following week.
These include a music appreciation seminar and a musical workshop, a performance by folk band Scarecrow, a lunchtime concert by two Magdalen College School students, the Daniel Smith Band, the Northampton Festival Orchestra, and the 6PAC Jazz Sextet.
