BRACKLEY Rotary Club's new president has taken over the helm.
Trevor Davies was welcomed by outgoing president Adrian Jones at a meeting on Wednesday, June 26.

Mr Davies said: "The club has had a busy year, helping communities both internationally and locally. On the local scene we have helped finance various charities operating in the Brackley district including The Shaftesbury Society, Young Carers in South Northants, and Life Education – a programme visiting schools advising on the danger of drugs."

He said the coming year would bring new local projects, as well as continuing support for a scheme to develop schools in Romania.

Mr Davies, from Croughton, is director of international studies in education and training at Reading University.

His first-hand experiences of the poverty suffered by the Roma community led him to found a project, supported by Brackley Rotary Club, to invest in schools in the Tarlungeni district.
