BRACKLEY Community Carnival is back in two weeks' time with a brand new line-up of attractions.
Although old favourites like the six-a-side football tournament and the Knockout Challenge have returned, the event on Saturday, June 13, will feature a host of new entertainments in keeping with this year's theme, It's Showtime!
Carnival committee member Julie Moore said: "We've planned a good day for people of all ages to enjoy. It's a lot of hard work, and it takes us a year to do.
"Luckily, we've always had lots of support, and we hope everyone will come out and support us again.
"The Knockout Challenge is always popular, and we hope there will be enough entertainment for everyone to have a nice day out with their family."
Entertainers are set to include Charlie the clown, who specialises in magic tricks, juggling, comedy, mind-reading and puppetry, and has a sideline in terrible jokes.
The Eagle Heights Eagle & Vulture Display team will come to Brackley from Kent, and is said to offer one of the most comprehensive bird of prey displays in the UK.
Stars include Jade the falcon, who can skim over spectators at 120mph, and Kayla the magnificent bald eagle. Also making an appearance will be Posh and Becks the white-backed vultures, and a selection of owls.
Stunt dogs from the Rockwood Dog Display Team can also be seen in action, demonstrating everything from tackling an armed criminal to special tricks with fire.
Families can also enjoy performances from entertainer Mr Alexander, whose show includes magic, unicycling, and a death-defying balancing act on folding chairs.
And Sir Lupin of Pipwithers, a stiltwalker with a difference, is bound to raise a smile. The impoverished knight has lost his horse, and so must be carried around on the heads of two of his revolting peasants.
The carnival procession will set off from Brackley Sawmills at 11am, and will arrive at Magdalen College School's St John's site between 11.30am and noon.
Adult tickets cost £3 in advance and £4 on the gate.
Tickets are available from many local shops, schools and the town hall. Children aged 16 or under enter free.
The carnival shop window competition is also back this year, and businesses taking part include The Greyhound, A&H Model Shop, Topsy Turvey, HRH Hair and Beauty, DULAK, Cutting Edge, The Hair Gallery, Bliss Fashions, Rowans Gallery, The Coffee Shop, and Katharine House Hospice Shop.
Windows go on display from Monday, June 1, and will be judged from June 6 onwards. The winner will be announced at the carnival.
Carnival organisers still have places for teams to take part in the six-a-side football tournament. Contact Brackley town councillor Dave Shaw on 07940 517726 for details.
