AT 8.30am yesterday (17/07) the doors were opened to the new Waitrose supermarket in Manor Road, Brackley.
The 13,000sq ft store is only the third of its kind in the country which follows the company's new market town format, and has a strong emphasis on community involvement.

Diana Raven, 70, was among the first customers to arrive. She said: "It looks very nice. We have been really looking forward to this."

The market town format also includes a focus on local produce.
Store manager, Steve Laughton, 29, said: "We have a huge emphasis on fresh food and really believe that we want to be a part of the community and retain trade by bringing people into Brackley, helping the town to prosper."

The new Waitrose has 130 employees, 52 of whom worked for the Co-Op store that previously occupied the site.
