A TINGEWICK resident is to receive a special present for his 80th birthday after an internationally-acclaimed pianist agreed to give a public recital in his honour.
Allan Marlow turns 80 today, (20/02) and is looking forward to the performance by Japanese pianist Haruko Seki.

Mr Marlow, a keen musician and classical music-lover, who worked in the paper manufacturing industry for many years, has requested a programme of his favourite music including pieces by Debussy, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt and Gershwin.

He said: "I first became aware of Haruko Seki when she performed at the Summer Festival in 2000. I was so impressed I asked the organisers if I could sponsor her so that I could share my enjoyment with the rest of the town and she has appeared ever since.

"She has a truly remarkable keyboard technique and musicianship of the highest order."

The recital starts at 7.30pm in The Radcliffe Centre in Church Street, Buckingham. Tickets cost £7.50 for adults, £5 for under 18s available from Duke's Music in Market Hill and the Tourist Information Centre at the Old Gaol.
