Has John Bercow been open with his constituents?

It seems John Bercow's personal ambition for at least the last four years was to stand for the position of Speaker of The House of Commons at the first opportunity. More or less the same time his core beliefs and political views changed from conservative to ultra liberal; together with his new labour sympathies and alliegence. Was this new enlightenment or political journey, as he likes to call it, in the open? Did the many traditional Conservative voters of the Buckingham constituency, who thought they were voting for a Conservative MP, (that more or less shared the same conservative values) know that he had changed his politics and values so much? Was he ever open about his personal ambitions with local party officials or the local constituents? I don't ever remember reading anything on his website or in local papers about such things.

He has apparently already said he will need to convert his 'grace and favour' London home that apparently overlooks the River Thames, to be more child friendly. So it seems despite his 'flippin' his London home to his Buckingham home for the sake of bringing up his young family in the constituency. It seems he now plans to live most of the time in London. So does this mean Buckingham constituents can expect to see even less of him? How does he plan to represent Buckingham constituents properly in the future? Local people have the right to ask John Bercow has he been completely open with them on a number of fronts? For starters in his personal massive change in his political ideology from conservative to ultra liberal and secondly his short/medium term personal ambitions to become Speaker of the House, knowing that if he was successful he would have to walk away from his day to day responsibilities as Conservative MP for Buckingham.

continued from above:

I think local people have every right to feel they have been badly let down. Therefore, John Bercow should not be surprised if a local Independent or UKIP candidate stands against him at the General Election. As there are many questions that local people quite rightly have, which remain unanswered.

Quote from Daily Telegraph 07.07.09 page 6:

'While it is customary that the main political parties do not contest the Speaker's seat, Tories in John Bercow's constituency in Buckingham have been discussing the possibility of putting forward an independent candidate against him, Mandrake hears.
Less than a month after Bercow's appointment no decision appears to have been reached, but Margaret Aston, a councillor for Haddenham, who confirmed she heard a meeting had taken place, tells me:'I'm keeping my head down on this one,'' Adding to the intrigue, a spokesman for the Buckingham Conservative Association said: " I don't want to give anything away that I can't give away." Unquote Edited by Laura Roberts.'

Hallelujah! Could it be the penny has dropped about the 'real John Bercow' with Buckingham Conservative Association at last?
If this story is true I must resist saying, 'Have you now realised what some of us have been trying to tell you for more than five years?'

Surely Buckingham deserves better than John Bercow?

If there was a pro-Europe Conservative willing to throw his hat in the ring Bercow could be in real trouble with Tories dividing three ways (pro-Europe Tory, anti-Europe UKIP Farage and Speaker Bercow caught in the middle) while some 18,000 Lib. Dem. and Labour voters are highly unlikely to back Bercow, much more likely to back Farage or the pro-Europe Tory, one of whom could sneak through the middle to win.

Interesting!
