BUCKINGHAM Town Council has supported a planning application which could see national chain Costa Coffee come to the town.
Franchisee 3D Coffee Ltd has submitted a change of use application to Aylesbury Vale District Council for the former Wards Hardware shop on the High Street, which it hopes to turn into a Costa Coffee branch.

At Monday's town planning committee, Cllr Pam Desorgher said a national chain wanting to set up shop in Buckingham reflected well on the town.
She said: "It shows that Buckingham is being looked at as a high-class place."

Cllr Pauline Stevens said: "Costa Coffee is an international trading group, it is well known and has a popular following. We are trying to bring Buckingham into the 21st Century and we need companies like this which represent that attitude."

Costa Coffee spokesperson Nevina Holland said the chain was looking at the area, but could not confirm any further details at this stage.
Town council comments will be consided by AVDC, which will make the final decision.
