PARKING fines issued over an incorrectly-marked loading bay in Buckingham may never be repaid, Aylesbury Vale District Council has said this week.
Grahame Keating, from Maids Moreton, was given a ticket after parking in the loading bay outside shops in Market Hill in Buckingham around a year ago.
He decided to appeal against his ticket and said a hearing of the Traffic Penalty Tribunal in Manchester last week found the bay was incorrectly marked in a number of ways, and rejected the fine imposed by Aylesbury Vale District Council's parking enforcement staff.
Mr Keating had a telephone conference with a tribunal official and a representative of AVDC, where questions were raised over the marking of the bay.
He said AVDC stated that Bucks County Council Highways Department contractors would have to be brought in to change the markings to comply with regulations.
"But people have been getting tickets and they shouldn't be until the markings are correct," said Mr Keating.
In a statement, Stephen Harding, parking services manager for AVDC, said: "We accept the parking adjudicator's decision.
"The bay markings do not meet legal requirements and we have asked the county council to re-mark them.
"The county council intends to remark the bay urgently and we will not issue penalty charge notices to people parking there until this is completed.
"We have no plans to pay back the charges issued to people who have used the bay previously as these cases are now closed."
