A GOOD crowd gathered to watch Buckingham's annual boules competition to mark the French national holiday, Bastille Day, on Monday.
The game, which was played in honour of Buckingham's twin town of Mouvaux, saw contestants attempt to get their boule as close to the jack as possible and was organised by Buckingham Twinning Association.
The tournament finished with a tie on the last game, which was resolved by a play-off. Oliver Bowers and Curtis Maskell were declared the winners.
Valerie Shaw, from the twinning association, said: "French songs mixed with roars of encouragement as the contest narrowed finally to two pairs of players in as exciting a finish as anyone could wish for."
Ron Gleeson acted as MC and chief referee for the competition.
Cllr Howard Mordue, mayor of Buckingham, presented the cup at the end.
