Flood alert as rain fell

RESIDENTS in the region were on flood watch this week after heavy rain caused rivers in the region to rise.
A Flood Watch alert was issued for The River Great Ouse between Brackley and Thornborough early on Monday morning, with the all-clear given on Wednesday.

The River Tove in Northants was on Flood Watch from 9am Sunday, as was the River Ray from Shipton Lee and Islip in Oxon from 7.45am Monday.

Both Flood Watch warnings were in still in force at the time of going to press yesterday, Thursday.

Waters rose at Leckhampstead Wharf and Bourton Mill in Buckingham on Monday afternoon, and fire crews from Bucks Fire and Rescue attended a couple of incidents on Monday.

At around 1.40pm there were reports of a car stuck in floodwater on the road between Padbury and Lenborough. Crews from Buckingham and Newport Pagnell along with a rescue boat from Newport Pagnell attended.

Bucks Fire and Rescue also visited a property in North End Road in Steeple Claydon, to offer flood safety advice.

There were reports of flooding in Northampton and the village of Eydon in south Northants overnight on Sunday, which saw crews from Northants Fire and Rescue called out at regular intervals.
