A VARIETY of entertainment from music to art demonstrations has been organised for Buckingham's Saturday market in a bid to attract more visitors.
The entertainment, which has been organised by the town council to run throughout the spring and summer, has been introduced to encourage more people to shop at the market and to promote some of the town's clubs and societies.

The programme kicked
off on March 7, with dancing from Ceroc Central and music from the Buckingham Acoustic Club, on March 14 and 21.

The entertainment is set to continue on April 11 when Buckingham's jester, Sam X, attempts some Easter egg juggling. Canvas will hold an art exhibition on April 18 while Buckingham Acoustic Club will return on April 25.

Over the summer there will also be displays from the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, Swan Market, Amnesty International, Buckingham and District Horticultural Club, Tumblers, a best dressed teddy competition on June 20 and a performance from the Great Horwood Concert Band on August 22.

Buckingham town councillor Mike Smith said: "Street markets up and down the country are having a hard time but ours seems to be doing reasonably well.

"With the loss of Woolworths and the recession, we thought it would be good to bring some extra entertainment to the market on Saturdays, which hopefully will help attract people in."
