CHILDREN from Maids Moreton Pre-School have got stuck into a gardening project with a little help from their friends.
Grants and donations from Aylesbury Vale District Council's Community Chest, Frost's Garden Centre in Milton Keynes and the National Lottery Breathing Places Fund are helping the youngsters to learn more about nature and improve their local area for wildlife and residents.

A £1,000 grant from AVDC has provided wheelbarrows, greenhouses, gloves, gardening tools and a child-safe water butt, while Frost's Garden Centre has donated seeds, compost, seed trays and potting trays.

Parent committee member Jane Wood said: "Children have so much natural curiosity, so to have real tools to do real gardening is wonderful for them."

Children planted wild flowers in Maids Moreton's Scotts Lane Conservation Area last Thursday as part of the ongoing project, and had grown vegetables and flowers in the pre-school garden earlier in the year.

A recently-awarded £10,000 grant from the National Lottery is set to fund a new outdoor classroom, seating, tables, bird boxes and feeding stations at the pre-school.
