CHILDREN at Finmere CofE Primary School enjoyed a health-conscious picnic as part of a recent Healthy Schools Week.
Friends, family and younger siblings gathered at the school site in Mere Road for the wholesome lunchtime picnic on June 20, and children dressed in colours to match their favourite fruit or vegetable.

Pupils started their Healthy Schools Week with a walk to school from the centre of the village, dressed in yellow jackets and accompanied by staff.

They were also encouraged to 'Take 10' – to undertake 10 minutes of exercise such as aerobics, skipping, or even air guitar first thing in the morning, together with mums and dads.

A baked potato day was also held, and children took part in a variety of competitions, including one to design a lunchbox.

The Healthy Schools Week, which ran from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, is part of the national Healthy Schools programme sponsored by the NHS.

The week launched the school's involvement in the programme, which will lead to a Healthy Schools Award.
