Logo competition winners announced!
LOTS of children across the Advertiser & Review region have put pencils to paper over the past few months for the Our World in Your Hands logo competition.
And this week we can finally reveal the winners.
We have received excellent entries from several schools, all based around the theme of protecting the planet, and over the past few weeks, we have featured some of them in the newspaper.
The work would indicate the future of the planet is in safe hands, with many of the children taking on board the themes of the campaign. Selecting the winners was no easy choice – all entrants had shown a great deal of creativity, hard work and care when designing their logos.
The winning school – St James and St John CofE School, Chackmore and Akeley – has won a magnetic pinboard of the Dynamic Earth map, donated by Brackley firm Global Mapping Ltd, while the winning pupil will receive an art set donated by Buckingham art supply firm Canvas. The runners-up will each receive a paper version of the Dynamic Earth map.
The winner and runners up are:
Winner – Sally Gibbs, St James and St John CofE School, Chackmore and Akeley;
Runners-up – Eliot Barnard, Maddie Kimble, St James and St John CofE School; Thomas Atkinson, Cieran Newton, Robyn Turnbull and Jordan Marchant, Greens Norton Primary School; Callum Prinsloo, Brackley Junior School.
Headteacher of St James and St John CofE School, Sally Hughes, said: "We put a very high priority on the arts in school so children are encouraged to be as creative as possible. The children are also very aware of recycling and caring for the environment. It is through a competition like this when they can really explore and invent for themselves."
The prizes will be presented next week.
