A NEW grant scheme is being piloted in Aylesbury Vale.
Vital Villages will offer grants of up to £5,000 to community groups and small businesses for new equipment, marketing, staff training and improvements to facilities.

Aylesbury Vale District Council is contributing £50,000 to the fund which it has received from the Government's Local Authority Business Growth Incentive (LABGI). It awards grants to councils based on the growth of businesses in their area.

Applicants must prove their business encourages community support and be able to fund half of the proposed project themselves, and must be from communities with less than 10,000 people.

Cllr Pam Pearce said: "This funding will provide a lifeline for local services. We hope it will provide a way for our communities and villages to thrive, prosper and grow stronger."

The final application date is September 30 with later opportunities to follow.
