A FORMER Buckingham School pupil has won two awards after completing his basic training for the Royal Air Force.
Oliver Loak, 20, from Tingewick, graduated from The Recruit Training Squadron at RAF Halton, in Aylesbury, last month.

He has received awards for being the best recruit, and best in initial force protection training. They were presented by The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Peter Thorogood, in a ceremony.

Mr Loak has moved onto RAF Cosford to train as a physical training instructor.

He said: "I really enjoyed all aspects of the training, especially the ground defence and physical training elements.

"I am thrilled to have received the awards for displaying the greatest effort and determination on my flight and the best overall standard in initial force protection training."

Nick Trown, officer commanding the recruit training squadron, said: "Oliver has done well. He has developed both as a person and as an airman, during the Recruit Training Course, and proven to be one of the best trainees this year."

He added the RAF was searching for new recruits and asked anyone interested to visit their local armed forces career office or visit the website www.rafcareers.com
