WINSLOW's first-ever 10k run looks set to become an annual fixture after raising an estimated £2,000 for charity on Sunday.
David Garlick, president of Winslow Lions, said the event could become a valuable addition to the group's fundraising calendar.
He said: "The feedback has been fabulous, and we're very keen to do it again. It was a well-organised and happy event."

Around 230 runners set off from outside Furze Down School in Verney Road on Sunday morning, passing through Verney Junction and East Claydon as part of a 10-kilometre circuit.

Mr Garlick said the popularity of the event was down to race director Simon Woodrow, who advertised the race as a pre-London Marathon warm-up in Runners' World magazine.

The first runner home was James Lawler, from Bedford and County Athletic Club, in a time of 32.04.

Proceeds will go to local youth organisations, such as playgroups, Scouts and Brownies, as well as assisting Furze Down School's fundraising bid towards specialist school status.
