Record fund for the RNLI
A RECORD £22,000 was raised for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) by the Winslow and Buckingham branch last year.
The RNLI committee was helped by Tony Diston, the licensee of The Royal Oak pub, in Tingewick, who helped make An Evening with Al Murray, The Pub Landlord, held at Stowe School's Roxburgh Theatre, a success in September last year.
At the show, Mr Diston made the winning bid of £155 for a signed copy of Al Murray's The Pub Landlord's Book of Common Sense.
David Spencer, chairman of the Winslow and Buckingham branch, said: "Last year was a bumper year for the lifeboats and I would like to thank all our supporters in the area. In particular Tony, who is a huge fan of The Pub Landlord, has been very generous."
