BUCKINGHAM and Winslow MP John Bercow could become the next Speaker of the House of Commons when the results of a secret ballot are published this evening.
Mr Bercow, who has been widely tipped as one of the front-runners in the race to replace Michael Martin as Speaker, made his speech to the House along with other candidates earlier today.

A total of 10 MPs are standing, including Margaret Beckett, Ann Widdecombe and Sir Patrick Cormack.

The result is expected at around 7pm this evening.
