NEW images showing details of how a major development in Buckingham will look have been released.
The £25million Riverside development will feature housing, shops, a cafe and underground parking, and will be situated on part of the White Hart pub car park and adjacent land behind Verney Close.

Lagan Homes and the Midsummer Housing Association have joined forces to acquire the land, which will feature 99 one-bedroom apartments, a two-bedroom coach house, and three three-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouses.

Midsummer will be developing 52 homes for rent, shared ownership and open market sale, with Lagan Homes developing the remaining homes for the open market.

In addition, there will be secure parking available for all the properties, with a further 18 spaces being made available for customers of the White Hart. There will be a semi-aquatic lake area next to a riverside walk between Cornwalls Meadow car park and Bridge Street.

Developer Limoges Ltd, which initially bought the land, worked with Emmerson Architects on the project. Proposals were granted planning approval by Aylesbury Vale District Council in July last year. A start date for work has not yet been set.

Ivor Lafford, land manager at Connells Estate Agent, which will be marketing the properties, said the firm will be compiling a register of interested buyers later this year. Mr Lafford, who went to school in Buckingham and has strong ties with the town, said: "I'm personally delighted to see this development – which will transform the riverside area – move on to the next stage."

The development will be in three blocks with private residents' gardens and internal streets in between. There will also be a frontage on to Bridge Street with a cafe and shop.
