A CHANGE of career for a Brackley man has led to the opening of a new shop in the town.
Ian Walker, 35, worked for the National Health Service for ten years before taking the plunge into self employment last month with his Topsy Turvey gift shop.

The shop is named after his mother's childhood pet dog, Topsy, and Eveline Turvey, his grandmother who died 22 years ago.

The shop sells unusual greetings cards, wrapping paper, gifts for weddings, a wide selection of traditional toys and a range of exclusive mugs.

Mr Walker said: "The decision to leave the NHS was a nerve-wracking one, but one I hope will work out for the best.

"Also I was born and bred in Brackley and wanted to put something back into the community.

"I wanted to bring something to the town that reminds me of how Brackley was like when I was younger, when you didn't have to leave the town to go shopping."

Mr Walker's new venture occupies a unit at the Halse Road end of High Street.

The unit had been empty for around 10 years and was once home to a wine merchant.
