TREE OF LIGHT: Young people from Bicester have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the London Olympic celebrations this June half-term.

Bicester youth arts charity the OYAP Trust is looking for 30 budding performers to take part in a unique dance project and learn original choreography with a professional dancer.

During June and July, they will work towards two major performances as part of the Olympic celebrations in Oxfordshire this summer.

The project is open to all young people in Bicester. No dance experience is necessary, just energy and a willingness to get stuck in.

The event will culminate in performances on July 9, when the Olympic torch arrives in Oxford, and again in Stonor Park on July 21, when 1,200 dancers from across Thames Valley will take part in the Tree of Light performance.

The Tree of Light dance event is funded by Legacy Trust for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Participants will need to be available for all rehearsals and able to travel to Oxford on July 1 and 9.

Rehearsals will be held on June 6, June 7, June 13, June 15, June 20, June 22 and July 1.

The OYAP Trust is based at the Courtyard Youth Arts Centre in Launton Road.

For details or to reserve a place, contact Liz McCaffry Payne at OYAP Trust on 01869 602560 or admin@oyap.org.uk.
