Churches all over Bucks are getting ready to open their doors for the annual charity historic churches Ride+Stride event on Saturday.

Ride+Stride is organised by the County Churches Trusts, voluntary organisations that raise money for the restoration and maintenance of historic churches and chapels, supported by the National Churches Trust.

People from across the country take part, riding or walking between their local churches to raise money.

Ride+Stride was started in 1983 and since then more than £29 million has been raised throughout England to support the repair of churches, with thousands of people enjoying a day out whilst raising funds to help preserve their local heritage.

Many churches open specially for the event, which takes place on the second Saturday of September, with some churches even providing refreshments.

Dozens of churches in the Buckingham, Claydon, Mursley, Milton Keynes and Newport deaneries will be taking part. For more information and a list of participating churches, visit www.rideandstrideuk.org
