Chance to see how public cuts will affect town
Community
THE mayor of Winslow and the manager of Buckingham and Winslow Citizens Advice Bureau will be speaking at a public meeting in Winslow’s St Laurence Room next week organised by members of the town’s churches.
Christians Together In Winslow have arranged the meeting, at 8pm on Thursday, January 19, to understand and explore the potential impact of the government cuts on the community and the services it offers, and to see what local organisations and individuals can do to help the situation.
Mayor Llew Monger will be speaking, and Janis Harding will speak about the problems Citizens Advice have encountered.
The aims of the meeting are to inform people of what the cuts are and what their impact is likely to be; to give people a chance to discuss these with local experts and others from local organisations; and to identify any areas of real concern and how the community might help with these.
Christians Together In Winslow comprises members of three of the town’s churches – St Laurence Church, the Winslow Vineyard and the St Albans Catholic Chapel.
The group has worked together on several projects, including fundraising for family support charity Home-Start and for Winslow’s Youth Cafe.
It also supports the Milton Keynes Food Bank and the Winslow Children’s Storehouse. Members of the group provide mentoring for ex-offenders under the New Leaf scheme.
Tea and coffee will be served at the meeting and all residents are welcome to attend.
