Southwold Centre leads the way with energy deal
SOUTHWOLD Community Centre has become the first public building in town to get subsidised insulation through the Eco Bicester project.
The 20-year-old community centre had already been the subject of an energy-saving drive by local people.
Claire Hewitt, community association chairman, said: “Just through some simple actions like turning down the thermostat and installing energy-efficient lighting we managed to cut the annual bill by £1,900.
“But we wanted to go even further and so we decided to see if we could get some help installing insulation.”
The work will cost around £1,200, and the community association will pay about a quarter of the total.
