Fund raising run was ‘community at its best’

King's Sutton Run for Rec, Saturday, November 5, under 11s fun run raised 850 for new play equipment

DESPITE the threat of rain children in King’s Sutton helped to raise £850 for new play equipment in the village.

Organisers of the village’s first Run for the Rec at the beginning of November said fund raising far exceeded expectations.

The event was organised by members of the Play Park Project working with King’s Sutton Parish Council. Councillor Geoffrey Searle rang the starting bell and watched as parents struggled to keep pace during the three laps of a course around the recreation ground.

Councillor and project member Lucinda Stuart said the event built on existing community spirit and added: “It was clear from the enthusiasm shown by competitors and helpers that this was a project close to everyone’s heart; it was most definitely community at it’s best.”
