WORK began this week on Winslow’s Jubilee Games Area.
Winslow Town Council’s amenities committee has worked hard to raise £70,000 in funding from WREN and LEADER for the multi-use play area, on land next to the town’s Youth Centre.
Chairman of the town council’s amenities committee David Barry said: “It’s wonderful to see, now you can actually see the size of it. After all the hard work the council has put in over the years, now it’s coming to fruition.”
The games area, which has been in the pipeline for about five years, could be finished in as little as three weeks’ time, depending on the weather, say contractors Lightmain.
It will be freely available to all residents for casual games as well as being available for use by the youth centre from time to time. It will be inspected daily and locked between 9pm and 9am to avoid nuisance to neighbours.
Winslow Town Council chose the name Jubilee Games Area in honour of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year.
