Knockout fun day in memory of Alec

ITS A KNOCKOUT is coming to Winslow on Sunday, June 24.

Graham Fisher’s International It’s A Knockout course will be the highlight of a huge family fun day at the Winslow Centre, in support of local charity Alec’s Angels, along with a host of other attractions.

Organiser Brian Jarvis said: “There will be everything from a tea room for Granny and Grandad to a soft play area for the very young.”

Other attractions will include a bouncy castle, bouncy slide, bouncy boxing, gladiator joust, rodeo bull, soft play, zorbing balls, body zorbing, helicopter rides, Segways, a football tournament, live local bands, a hog roast, tea rooms and ice cream vans.

Alec’s Angels was set up in memory of Alec Jarvis, from Hillesden, who sadly passed away a year ago at the age of nine, just 13 months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Throughout Alec’s illness, he and his family were supported by three charities, CLIC Sargent, Helen & Douglas House hospice in Oxford and The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

Along with family and friends, Alec’s parents Brian, aged 41, and Sara, aged 46, who are both from Winslow, set up Alec’s Angels to raise money for the charities that gave them so much help.

Each of the three charities has already received £1,000 from Alec’s Angels, and the fundraising total is growing all the time.

Mr Jarvis said: “It’s something I need to do because of Alec. I need to keep Alec alive with me and this is the way I can do that.”

And he added: “Alec would bring the whole family together and also we would have fun, so that’s what we want to continue.”

Now the charity wants 18 teams of 10 medically fit adults to sign up to take part in It’s A Knockout, for a donation of £500 per team.

Eight teams have already registered.
