Movie night cash bonus

THE Winslow Concert Band’s annual winter concert ‘A Night at the Movies’ took place at the Public Hall on February 26.

The programme encompassed musical genres covering 60 years.

The Band presented a cheque for £900 to the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust, its Charity of the Year for 2010/11.

The Band’s annual awards were also announced. This year the Musical Director’s award went to the trumpet section of Steve Raffell, Peter Cooper, Mark Ballantyne, Robin Rowland and Luke Emery. Members of the Band voted Robin Rowland as the Best Newcomer, while the Bandsperson of the Year was drummer and long-term member Peter Mealing.
