OAP injured in pavement fall

An elderly Winslow woman was badly injured after tripping on broken paving in Buckingham on Saturday.

June Buckland, aged 80, broke her hip in four places in the accident, near the Old Gaol on Market Hill.

She was taken to Milton Keynes Hospital.

Mrs Buckland’s son, Nigel Bird, asked the Advertiser to pass on his thanks to all the people who went to his mother’s aid and borrowed blankets to keep her warm.

He particularly thanked Peter Bartlett, from Bartlett’s tea room, and another couple who stayed with Mrs Buckland until the ambulance arrived.

Mr Bird said: “There were a lot of people there and I didn’t have a chance to thank them.

“It’s quite refreshing to know there are still people out therre wanting to help.”

The broken slab was mended by Aylesbury Vale District Council engineers on Monday.
