Police have appealed for information after a passenger was subjected to racist abuse on an Oxford to Bicester train.
Investigators have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place on Friday, September 28.
CCTV images were released by British Transport Police on Monday this week.
PC Bob Maulini, the investigating officer, said: “Two men boarded the 4.26pm Oxford to Bicester service when one of the men began to make racially-aggravated comments to his friend.
“The comments made by the men, who are believed to have been drinking previously, were highly offensive and made the victim feel vulnerable and fear for her own safety.”
Officers have already spoken to witnesses on board the train and viewed CCTV in the local area. Images have also been released on intelligence systems in a bid to identify the man.
PC Maulini added: “This was a shocking incident and this type of racially-aggravated verbal abuse is simply unacceptable.
“I’d urge anyone who recognises the man to come forward and assist police in this investigation.”
Information can be passed to British Transport Police on 0800 405040 quoting background reference B16/LNA of 29/11/2012.
