Will you get baking to boost Help For Heroes?

Help for Heroes has announced its next Colossal Cake Sale fundraiser, which will take place between the March 26 and April 7.

Last year 184 communities nationwide registered to don their aprons, grab their wooden spoons and get baking to support our wounded heroes. It is a great way for supporters with a sweet tooth to get involved whether you bake or buy!

The charity is appealing for help to make it even bigger and better in 2012 from supporters who are willing to host an event.

Cakes and other goodies, sweet or savoury, can be sold in schools, workplaces, market stalls and shopping centres, showing that you don’t need to do a sporty challenge to do your bit.

The Colossal Cake Sale has grown amazingly since the first one in 2008 when only seven events were registered, and the charity hopes to see this expansion continue in 2012 with even more communities getting together to help our heroes on the road to recovery.

Emma Parry of Help for Heroes said: “H4H is all about ‘doing your bit’ and this event is a wonderful example of people rallying support and having fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause.

“We have been able to use the £126 million raised for the charity, to provide practical and direct support to those wounded in the current conflicts. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated.”

On registering fundraisers will receive a Colossal Cake Sale fundraising pack to help make each event a success, including bunting, balloons and stickers and recipes.

Don’t forget there’s a whole host of cake baking-related Help for Heroes merchandise available on the website, from cake tins to aprons and cake picks. Visit for more.
