WHETHER going out for a night on the town or for a day of shopping, it is often difficult to decide what accessories to wear.
Handbags, jewellery and scarves are all key accessories which can be teamed up with a variety of clothes to create different looks depending on the occasion.
A number of shops within the Advertiser and Review region provide something a bit different for the summer season and cater for all looks.
Drop Dead Gorgeous, which is on Watling Street, in Towcester, sells handbags, costume jewellery, belts and a small range of shoes.
Margaret Cairns, who runs the shop with her daughter Barbara, said the shop sold a number of quirky handbags including one made out of recycled American number plates and covered in crystals.
She said: "Creams are popular for the summer and we have got a lot of animal print coming in as well. There is also an interest in soft metallics such as golds and silvers. They have been selling really well."
Barbara Cairns said with animal prints, zebra was becoming this year's favourite following on from last year's leopard print. Canvas bags for everyday use are also popular.
She added: "With jewellery, long necklaces in particular are very fashionable and quirky as well. Rather than classic pieces like chains, there is an interest in pendants on a chain."
Kim Curle, who runs Beautifully Different, on Winslow's High Street, said she sold unusual handbags from Hunky Dory and jewellery from Claudia Bradby as well as sparkly bra straps which are designed to be seen.
She said: "The bags are quite quirky with lots of bright colours, silks and satins with funky embroidery on them.
"I'm finding the handbags are the most popular items to date; they are flying out the door and the funkier they are the better. People are buying them not just for special occasions but to wear with jeans as well. They are getting more adventurous."
She added popular jewellery at the shop contained a mixture of the contemporary and the classic, including freshwater pearls and semi-precious stones, which appealed to all ages.
