HERE are some ideas for clubs and societies geared at the older generation, in your area.
Winslow Centre Tea Dance
A DANCE group has been providing exercise, fun and the chance to socialise in Winslow every Monday afternoon for nearly ten years.
In September the Winslow Centre Tea Dance will celebrate its 10th birthday and currently attracts between 20 and 30 people of all ages to the two-hour dance lesson.
The afternoon is funded by Bucks County Council and members' fees, and is run by qualified dance teachers, Hazel and Bob Thurlow.
Mrs Thurlow said her friendly group quickly dispels any inhibitions and that dancing is a healthy way to spend an afternoon.
She added: "Dancing is very good for your health and because you are turning a lot, it also very good for balance.
"But most importantly there's a little singing, no misery, and lots of happiness."
For more information call the Winslow Centre in Park Road, Winslow, on 01296 383555.

Cane and Able Club (Winslow)
The Cane and Able Club gives senior citizens in the Winslow area a way to meet up every month, listen to guest speakers and to go on outings.
The last outing took members to Great Cornard in Suffolk to meet the former Winslow assistant priest, the Rev Jamie Allen, who entertained them with teas, sandwiches and a quiz. Every year the club also organises a Christmas Dinner in December and this year it has asked the Winslow Singers to provide the entertainment.
The club is organised and run by husband and wife team, Sheila and Brian Spatcher.
Mrs Spatcher said: "The club gets people out of the house, it gives them an interest and chance to have a chat with friends and if necessary we can come and collect them using the Winslow Community Bus."
The club meets on the first Saturday of every month in the Rose Room at the Winslow Centre in Park Road.
For more information call Mrs Spatcher on 01296 712503.

Evergreen Club (Brackley and District)
The Brackley and District Evergreen Club caters for anyone in retirement in Brackley and surrounding area.
It has around 80 members and meets either in Brackley town hall or in a village pub for lunch every Thursday between 2pm and 4pm.
Every year the club organises a week's holiday and around 35 members recently returned from a stay in Eastbourne. In December members are going to Torquay for five days.
Guest speakers have recently given talks on wildlife, the Warwickshire and Northants Air Ambulance and in June children from Kings Sutton School gave members a musical performance in the town hall.
Club secretary, Maureen Stacey, said: "We have a wide variety of entertainment and they are a good group who enjoy a laugh." For more information call Brackley Town Council on 01280 702441.

Women's Probus Club (Towcester)
The Towcester Women's Probus Club meets once a month at La Strada restaurant for lunch and to hear a guest speaker.
Recent speakers have included representatives from Guide Dogs for the Blind, BBC Radio Northampton and Stowe Landscape Gardens.
Day trips have included Buckingham Palace and a variety of stately homes.
The club currently has 55 members.
For contact details look in the links section of Towcester Town Council's website at www.towcester-tc.gov.uk, which also has contact details for the Men's Probus Club.

U3A (Buckingham and District)
The Buckingham & District U3A was established in 1998 and currently has almost 500 members.
It holds a monthly open meeting, usually on the fourth Wednesday of every month, at Buckingham Community Centre in Cornwall's Meadow.
Each meeting has a guest speaker, and they also arrange a number of outings and visits each year. The main feature of the U3A is the large number of study and interest groups.
Groups are primarily self-help rather than tutor-led and cover a wide range of subjects including languages, poetry, computing, singing for fun and local history. For more information visit www.buckinghamu3a.org.uk

Darby and Joan Club (Brackley)
The Darby and Joan Club has been providing entertainment for men and women in Brackley since 1948.
Daphne Howard has recently stepped down from chairman to vice chairman of the club after 32 years. She said the popularity of the group has led to the formation of a variety of spin-off groups, including the Evergreen Club and the 50 Plus Club.
Mrs Howard added: "We do similar things to the Evergreen Club with day trips to Weston-Super-Mare or Skegness, for example.
"We have regular bingo sessions, raffles, and film shows – and recently we had a member show us a film of their safari through Africa."
The Darby and Joan Club meets every Wednesday in Brackley Town Hall.
For more information call Brackley Town Council on 01280 702441.
