Frying pans at the ready for Bicester mayor’s pancake race

Trophies will be up for grabs at the Mayor of Bicester’s Charity Pancake Race in Garth Park on Sunday, February 10.

Awards will be presented to the race winner and the wearer of the best fancy dress as part of the fundraising event.

Bicester town mayor, Dan Sames, said it was the first time in his memory the town had hosted a pancake race.

He added: “The race will be there and back, and people will be expected to flip a pancake along the way.

“Hopefully people will have a flipping good time!”

Races start at 11am, and the course is around 100m long in total.

Entry is £2 per person, with all proceeds going to the mayor’s chosen charities, the 23 Pioneer Regiment Benevolent Fund and the Churchill Hospitals Haematology Trials Fund.

Further details and entry forms are available from Bicester Town Council on 01869 252915 or by emailing ruth.bagley@bicester.gov.uk. Racers must bring their own pans, but pancakes will be provided.
