Film director to appear at local cinema

Buckingham’s independent cinema, The Film Place, has a special offering on Friday, when director Justin Chadwick introduces his latest film The First Grader.

Mr Chadwick, who lives locally, will also take part in a question-and-answer session after the screening.

The First Grader is the true story of an illiterate 84-year-old Kenyan man’s fight for an education. The screening is at 8pm, doors open 7.30pm.

At 4pm on Saturday, The Film Place is showing Mr Popper’s Penguins, a delight for adults and children alike..

Jim Carrey plays an urban property developer who inherits crates of penguins from his father, a long-lost adventurer.

On Wednesday, December 21, there will be a chance to see Jane Eyre at 8pm.

> Brackley Jubilee Choir will be performing Handel’s Messiah at 7.30pm on Saturday, at St Peter’s Church, Brackley, with guest soloists and the Cherwell Orchestra conducted by Stuart Hubble.
