THE panto season is upon us once again, with two local pantomimes opening next week.

There are three slapstick situations going on at once in Winslow Players’ production of Little Bo Peep, which runs from Thursday to Saturday, February 2 to 4, at Winslow Public Hall.

Little Bo Peep can never catch her sheep, so she enlists the help of her fellow residents in Nursery Rhyme village to help her, including Dame Dolly Mixture who runs the sweet shop, Baarbara and Ewenice who run the wool shop, and Polly (put the kettle on) who runs the cafe.

Baddie Russell T. Bone, the butcher, is also trying to get the sheep, along with his two assistants Ruff and Rufus.

Director Derry French said: “All plotlines are simultaneous, the cast hardly ever go off stage and the sheep wander all over the place, as sheep do!”

Performances are at 8pm, with a Saturday matinee at 4pm and a Brownies’ performance at 1pm. Tickets from Jennie Wren’s on the Market Square and on the door.

The Brackley Players’ production of Old King Cole also runs from February 2 to 4, at Magdalen College, Brackley.

Directed by Sue Arthurs, Old King Cole is a pantomime full of fun, laughter and music set in Nursery Land, where you will meet all the favourite nursery rhyme characters.

Performances are at 7.30pm on Thursday and Friday and 2.30pm (matinee only) on Saturday. Tickets from Davies and Partners, on the Market Place, Brackley, or call Keith Fraser on 01280 701501.

The curtain goes up the Paulerspury Players’ production of Snow White on February 15, with five performances at the village hall. For tickets, call 0845 833 4910 or 01327 811578.

And the Launton Players are putting their own spin on the classic fairytale Beauty And The Beast from February 16 to 18.

The family show will be performed at Bicester’s Cooper School, with matinees at 2.30pm and evening shows at 7.30pm. Tickets from Launton Post Office and Bicester Oxfam shop.
