Lights could go off for ever if plans get the go-ahead
STREET lights on Buckingham’s ring road will remain switched off and lamp posts will be removed if proposals outlined in a public consultation go ahead.
A three-year energy-saving street light switch-off trial at 46 locations across the county has ended, and now members of the public are being invited to give their views in the final stage of the consultation process.
Proposals for the future for each of the sites have been developed based upon the collision data and feedback from the emergency services, district councils, representatives from interest groups and the public.
Residents can view this information and comment, prior to a final decision being made. The consultation, which began this week, runs until December 11. It can be found at www.buckscc.gov.uk/haveyoursay
A Bucks County Council spokesman said the trial has saved energy, reduced CO2 emissions, reduced light pollution and saved more than £250,000 of taxpayers’ money in energy costs alone.
