RAINBOWS, Brownies and Guides helped plant a tree on Saturday to mark the 100th anniversary of the guiding movement.
Although the anniversary was last year, the Winslow and District Guides wanted a lasting reminder of the anniversary by planting a silver birch on the Winslow cricket field.
Jill White, leader of the Great Horwood Rainbows, said members of all three tiers of the girl guiding movement in Winslow attended the special event.
She said: “We also had some dignitaries from the guiding association and David Barry from Winslow Town Council came to represent the council because they supported us in planting the tree.”
She added a plaque would also be installed near the new addition, facing a nearby cycle path, to explain why the tree was there.
There was also a fun day held with activities based on a carnival theme.
