MORE THAN 150 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and their leaders from Girlguiding Buckingham joined together for a traditional Street Party on Saturday, May 14.

The event was an opportunity for unit members ranging from the age of five to fourteen- years- old, to join together, have some fun and allow the girls to appreciate the wider world of guiding outside their own unit meetings.

Guide leader, Maggie Pringle said: “We didn’t want to do a Royal Wedding party as we thought the members would be celebrating it at home.

“We thought that because they may have come across the idea of a street party, this would be something nice to do with the girls.”

During the first part of the afternoon, the girls worked hard making food for the party and tables were piled high with sandwiches, fruit kebabs and beautifully decorated cupcakes.

The girls also made and decorated hats to wear to the party, and the afternoon ended with traditional games and songs.

District Commissioner, Lesley Try said: “It was lovely to see the girls having such a great time, we were determined to have the tea outside if at all possible and were very lucky that the rain held off until the party ended.”

New leaders are needed to help continue to offer opportunities like this. If you would like to find out more, please contact Lesley on 01280 816202.
